Tristan Decommissioning Support

BMT Cordah played an integral role in the decommissioning of the Tristan NW Field infrastructure; providing expertise and support to the operator – Bridge Energy ASA (formerly Silverstone Energy Ltd).

The Tristan NW Field is located in Block 49, approximately 76 km northeast of the nearest UK coastline (Norfolk) and 15 km southeast of the boundary of the North Norfolk Sandbanks possible Special Area of Conservation.

The Tristan NW Field consisted of a single development well tied-back via a 15.5 km subsea pipeline to the Davy NUI (normally unattended installation). Production from the well commenced in 2008; however, the performance of the well was consistently poor. Studies were undertaken to investigate affordable measures to extend the economic field life but proved unsuccessful. Subsequently, the operator decided to decommission the infrastructure.

Project support by BMT Cordah included the preparation of an Environmental Statement, a Comparative Assessment of the various decommissioning options available, assistance with the required PON permits for the retrieval of subsea infrastructure and close out reporting. BMT Cordah has also provided post-decommissioning support to enable Bridge Energy to uphold their decommissioning commitments.
