Effluent Management and Treatment

The production of wastewater from industrial processes gives rise the problem of disposal of effluent. The volume and type of waste will dictate the disposal routes open to particular industries.

Processes which produce small volumes of highly concentrated waste intermittently may find that the best solution is to have the waste removed from site by a specialist waste contractor. Alternately processes continuously producing large volumes of waste would find this option too expensive. For these industries it is often a better environmental option, as well as being more cost effective to build an on site waste water treatment plant. The type of a waste water treatment plant installed is again dependant on the quality of effluent produced. Food companies and paper mills for instance produce waste which can be biologically treated to remove biodegradable materials. Ports and harbours where inorganic chemicals from paints are the main pollutant would be more suited to using physical filtration methods. BMT Cordah Ltd can identify the type of waste produced by a particular site and provide assistance in choosing the most appropriate type of waste treatment plant to achieve the required standards.
