The waste management sector, currently working with the implications of the Landfill Directive must now also consider the challenges presented by the requirements of the pollution prevention and control (PPC) regulations. For waste management companies looking to expand their facilities in the near future, PPC is already a requirement of their new operations.

BMT Cordah Ltd has been working with companies within the waste management sector to provide Environmental Statements relating to expansion of existing sites, provision of site condition reports, relating to the requirements of the Landfill Directive and in the preparation of PPC permit applications for landfill sites and other waste handling facilities.

In addition, the move towards better waste segregation and recycling facilities has presented BMT Cordah with the opportunity to carry out research into alternative uses for previously discarded materials. Research in this area is hoped to identify new products, energy recovery options and a reduction in waste being sent to landfill.
