VMIS - Visual Marine Information System

  Visual Marine Information Systems

VMIS provides the framework for all BMT Cordah's marine information systems. The framework allows applications to interface with databases, and provides a wide range of configuration and data visualisation tools which include GIS mapping, metocean displays, graphing, contouring and reporting.

The Visual Marine Information Systems (VMIS) framework developed by BMT Cordah now provides a low cost and reliable tool for the development of marine information systems designed and implemented to a customer's specific requirements. By building all the generic parts of the application into a common framework, features such as mapping, current/bathymetry data, meteorology, graphing, contouring, 3D visualisation, report writing are already in place. The application itself only requires the models and databases specific to the particular requirement. These components are also greatly facilitated by the VMIS generic Data Manager and a number of generic models developed by BMT for simulating marine systems.

All BMT Cordah's new systems are hosted within the VMIS framework.

VMIS broadly consists of two parts;
1)the data servers and 2)the user interface

  • Mapping Server
  • Current Server
  • Bathymetry Server
  • Weather Server
