Offshore Discharges Consultancy

In several countries, consent is required to discharge offshore drill cuttings and produced waters from oil field platforms. Applications for such consent may require completion of forms including details of the material to be discharged, including its toxicity to marine biota, its concentration and information about the discharge volumes and rates. Estimates of the dilution of the discharge at some distance from the discharge point are often required and may require the use of spreadsheet models. Certain discharges may require more detailed Environmental Impact Assessments and the use of numerical trajectory and dispersion models.

BMT Cordah Ltd has successfully provided offshore discharge consultancy services to the oil and gas industry for more than 10 years. Our clients include many major oil and gas exploration and production companies, environmental consultancies, and government bodies - including the UK Department of Trade and Industry. We can provide a range of services, including cuttings and produced waters modelling requirements using the CHARM and PROTEUS models, from PON applications and ecological risk assessment, to the complete management and production of EIAs or Environmental Statements.
