BMT Cordah designed a 3-day training course entitled: “Environmental Management and Sustainable Development for the Oil and Gas Industry” in Vladivostok, Russian Federation.  The course, undertaken in October 2007, provided delegates with an understanding of emerging trends, regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations for large-scale oil and gas projects.

The training programme consisted of both formal and informal sessions/workshops, where participants were invited to discuss their own experiences.  In addition, a series of software demonstrations were held using the following tools:
  • Oil Spill Information System (OSIS) – BMT Cordah’s in-house oil spill trajectory modelling system;
  • PROTEUS – BMT Cordah’s produced water dispersion modelling system.
  • ENVI – a satellite imagery assessment tool that can rapidly evaluate large areas of land for the presence of environmental and social receptors.
