BMT Cordah Ltd has two principal business streams.
Firstly, we support agencies in the development and improvement of their procedures in terms of achieving the sustainability and poverty alleviation agendas. BMT Cordah offers assistance covering environmental and social issues and their interactions especially in the context of the development implications for the poor and other vulnerable groups and their livelihoods. Within this context BMT Cordah provides review and evaluation services to examine the performance of development initiatives.
Secondly, BMT Cordah implements projects supported by the agencies in-country. We specialize in projects with a strong focus on capacity development for the environment. In this context we work closely with indigenous personnel to identify impediments to better management performance and identify the key institutional, training and technical changes that are required to improve capacity to manage the environment. Further, BMT Cordah has extensive experience in provision of training and development of regulations, guidelines and procedures that assist improving local capacity.
In a recent project, two international agencies required assistance to amend and update their internal guidance documents with respect to better integration of environmental issues into their activities. One agency is involved in provision of bi-lateral development assistance, while the second agency has a mandate to offer to support to refugees at the global level. BMT Cordah was involved in analysing staff needs, comparing the current procedures, guidance and documents against current and expected demands. Then, BMT Cordah worked with staff to revise and update the procedures and guidance. In the case of the refugee agency, the draft revised guidance was tested in the field prior to being finalized. |
