BMT Provides Support to Chemicals Industry under New EU Regulations
01-May-2007
Through our worldwide network of offices, BMT now provides assistance to chemical manufacturers and importers / exporters affected by the EU's new Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) regulation. REACH replaces the current EU system of approximately 40 different Community Directives and Regulations on chemicals with a single regulation and a consistent approach for controlling risks from new and existing chemical substances. This new legislation is aimed at maintaining and enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry while also improving protections to human health and the environment.
REACH places requirements on industry for gathering existing information and generating new information on chemical substances, and applies this information to assess the safety of chemicals and the selection of appropriate risk management measures. To meet REACH requirements, BMT's worldwide capacity can provide the necessary resources to chemical manufacturers and importers / exporters around the globe, including the compilation of technical dossiers, to ensure that production and sales remain undisturbed under the new regulation. Cost savings and efficiencies can be also be realized by the formation of consortia of firms to develop the necessary REACH data requirements, and BMT provides consortia management services that also ensure individual confidentiality of proprietary information.
"Where will our knowledge take you?" Let it take you through the hurdles and potential pitfalls of REACH to maintain and potentially increase your market share in the EU. Download the flyer below for more information on REACH.
