BMT Cordah Gains UK Training Accreditations 2004

On February 25, 2004, the Aberdeen-based Response Management Unit (RMU) of BMT Cordah Limited was accredited by the Nautical Institute (NI) on behalf of the Marine & Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the Department of Trade & Industry. This means that BMT Cordah Ltd has officially been recognised as one of the few UK training organisations qualified to deliver the full range of MCA and DTI approved oil spill response training.

The MCA courses are for personnel employed by UK ports, harbours, and oil handling installations. Requirement for this training is mandatory under UK legislation implementing the international OPRC convention. Training courses are provided at five levels, ranging from a Level 1 basic operator’s course to a Level 5 course for senior managers.

The DTI approved training is a requirement for offshore operators. Three courses are provided, respectively for on-scene responders, for onshore response managers and for corporate management.

BMT Cordah is keeping costs to a minimum by offering courses in clients’ own locations and running joint courses for more than one organisation.
