EDAS Workshop - A Great Success
In February, BMT Cordah organised a seminar on ‘Operational Metocean Web-based Data Delivery and its Applications’. The seminar was promoted by the EDAS (Flexible Online Environmental Data Systems) business cluster and included presentations by BMT Cordah, the UK Met Office, DEFRA, Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS), Environmental Systems’ Science Centre (ESSC, University of Reading) and the Channel Coastal Observatory. BMT Cordah’s Search and Rescue Information System was used to give a demonstration of the live connectivity to gridded metocean data from UK Met Office model servers.
The seminar was attended by over 75 delegates from government departments, the Royal Navy, academia, and the marine and IT industries. BMT Cordah is now in discussion with several of the delegates about future developments to increase the use and availability of online marine and environmental datasets.
The EDAS cluster is supported by the South East England Development Agency. The cluster founders were BMT Cordah, the Reading Enterprise Hub (University of Reading), ESSC, the UK Met Office and Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
